Any non-affiliated athlete is able to join VMA for just $25 (for first-time member). This affiliation includes insurance cover and will allow an athlete entry to all VMA 30+ Events in 2026 as well as eligibility to attend our mid-week competition Venues.

This event is open to all athletes aged 30 years and over. Competition is in 5-year age groups for women & men, starting at ages 30-34.

NOTE: Entries will close at 9pm on Monday February 16th. No late entries will be accepted (including "on the day"). To assist planning of this event, athletes are requested to register ASAP. Full refunds are available up until the day before the event, so please don't delay your entry.

Event location & time

Address – Duncan Mackinnon Reserve Athletics Track, 819-821 North Road, Murrumbeena VIC 3163.

The first competition group is likely to commence around 10am. The actual time will depend on the actual number of entries and will be communicated in the week prior to the event after close of entries.

Competition Format

Athletes compete in five Throws events (in order): Hammer, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, & Weight Throw.

Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Victorian place-getters in all Masters age-groups (Interstate/Overseas athletes will receive invitation medals). Awards will also be made for: (i) the top age-graded athletes; (ii) highest points scoring “rookie” (first-time competitor at Throws Pentathlon; (iii) most improved Athlete. This year we will announce the winners immediately after competition.

Event Entry cost

This event will be supported by paid officials. All recorded performances for both individual events and the overall Pentathlon are recognized for setting of records.

The cost of entry to the event is $35 ($25 Event fee +$10 admin fee), which covers all five Pentathlon events and the cost of paid officials and other miscellaneous costs. Note: this entry fee structure is the same as the Track & Field Pentathlon held recently.

There may be an additional cost for event helpers - read next section.

Event Helpers

This year we will build on our successful policy introduced in 2025 of relying on friends and family members to do nominated field event helper duties at all our events (details below for this event) to support the officials. Note: this doesn’t include retrieval of implements which will be done by athletes.

It is expected that most competitors will be able to nominate a family member or friend who can help on the day.  These people will "travel with the group " of the person competing.  It is not a condition of event entry that you must nominate a helper, however without helpers the event cannot take place. Therefore, in this regard it is hoped that all athletes understand this and that most will be able to nominate a helper, who as stated will also get to see them complete in all events.

However, If a competing athlete is not able to nominate a helper, then an additional $ 15 will be paid in lieu and this will be used to fund paid helpers (including basic training in their helper duties) to ensure that the event can run smoothly.

Uniform

All Victorian athletes are to wear the athletics top of either:  their (i) Masters mid-week Venue; (ii) “home track” eg. AV club; (iii) any other top as agreed with the Event Manager eg. a top of colour of their local athletics club or VMA Venue.

 Event Timetable

The final event timetable will only be known once entries close.

For any questions regarding this event contact the Event Manager, Rob Mayston – 0437 487 277 (for event specific enquiries) or Rod DeHighden on the VMA hotline 0493 724 485 or via email: registrar@vicmastersaths.org.au(for enquiries regarding event entry).

Refunds

Refunds will be allowed up to the closing date of entries less a $10 administration fee
