Victorian Masters Athletics, Throws Pentathlon 2025

Murrumbeena, Sunday March 23rd from 10am

The Victorian Masters Throws Pentathlon Championship is an event in VMA’s “30+

Championship events series.”

The Throws Pentathlon events, in order, are: Hammer, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Weight.

Competition will commence at 10 am. This event will have a full complement of certified

officials and the use of multiple hired EDMs (Electronic Distance Measurement devices)

will be used to assist with the efficiency of running the event. Note: VMA is developing a

group of people who are trained in the use of using EDMs. Mike Clapper from Glen

Eira/Glenhuntly hub is co-ordinating the training for EDMs. Anyone wishing to help out at

VMA events where EDMs are used can contact Mike on 0419 993 893.

To enter the Throws pentathlon event you need to be 30+ years of age and be a Masters’

affiliated athlete. Interstate and Overseas athletes are welcome to compete by invitation

in the individual competition.  Any non-affiliated athlete will be required to join Victorian

Masters Athletics – with the cost just $15/athlete (for first-time member). This affiliation

also allows athletes to enter other VMA events throughout 2025 and you will also receive

VMA’s bi-monthly magazine ‘Footprints’ which has a lot of information about VMA.

Medals will awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Victorian placegetters in all Masters age groups

(Interstate & overseas athletes will receive invitation medals).

There will also be awards for individual (i) top age-graded athlete (ii) top rookie (first

time competing at Throws Pentathlon) also age-graded.

Cost: $20 event entry fee + $5 admin fee. Entries close Wednesday March 17th (8.00

PM). No entries will be accepted on the day.

To assist organisers with the planning for this event, athletes are requested to register for

this event as soon as possible. Full refunds are available for any reason right up until the

day before the event, so please don’t delay your entry.

Victorian athletes will wear either (i) their mid-week venue top (ii) their team / “home

track” athletics top or (iii) any top that is close in colour/appearance to either (i) or (ii).

Members of the Throwers venue (only) may wear the VMA top (as they do not currently

have one of their own). Otherwise, the VMA athletics top is now only worn at National

events.

We require helpers on the day who will record results, announce athletes & read EDMs (as

mentioned above). The helpers could be athletes not competing (eg. through injury),

family members or friends etc. Helpers who are family members or friends of athletes

remain in the group of the athlete throughout the competition, so they don’t miss any of

the action!

For any event enquiries please contact the Event Competition Manager, Rod De Highden:

Refunds

Refunds will be allowed up to the closing date of entries less a $10 administration fee
