VMA Track & Field Pentathlon 2025: Reinvented with 'Pent-Pals'

Victorian Masters Athletics (VMA) proudly presents the reinvented Track & Field Pentathlon, set for Sunday, November 23, 2025. This event is now strategically scheduled to avoid the crowded summer athletics calendar, ensuring optimal participation. 

What’s a Pentathlon?

Five events in one day, with points scored in each.

What's New?

Introducing 'Pent-Pals': A fresh twist allowing two athletes to team up—one competes in three events, the other in two. This team-based competition will run alongside the traditional individual pentathlon, offering flexibility and camaraderie.

Competition Formats

• Individual Pentathlon: Individual athletes compete across five events, categorized in 5-year age brackets, with medals awarded to top performers, OR   

• Pent-Pals: Enter as a team of two. Teams can be any two Masters registered athletes of any age - either two women or two men. One athlete completes 2 events and the other the remaining 3 – you choose who does what! Medals will be awarded to the highest scoring women’s and men’s teams across all age groups.

The cost of entry will be the same for both the Individual and Pent – Pals events.

Events Include:

Women: 100m, Shot Put, Long Jump, Javelin, 800m

Men: Long Jump, Javelin, 200m, Discus, 1500m

Pre-Entry Initiative

To streamline planning and maintain low entry fees, VMA is trialling a pre-entry system. Athletes can register their interest online without immediate payment, aiding in logistics like venue selection (e.g. Doncaster or Lakeside Stadium if entries exceed 140), staffing, and equipment needs

Note: this is not an event entry nor an obligation to compete in the event. Entries for the event will open in mid-September.
